Chaser

Chaser

Chaser is an older, forgotten title dug up from the grave. Released in 2003, the game was developed by Cauldron HQ based in Slovakia, using their own CloakNT engine.

Vietcong

Vietcong

Vietcong was not a long game, probably ten hours max. But maybe it just felt short because I was having so much fun with it. Everything is very realistic, even killing your enemies as you need to hit them pretty well or they'll recover and keep shooting. Great graphics for 2003 and fun gameplay means I'm looking forward to playing the official addon pack and sequel. It's a pity the creators, Pterodon & Illusion Softworks, haven't done much else in this genre. But, how will this hold up against Men Of Valor, the only other successful Vietnam-based game released a year later...

Medal Of Honor: Allied Assault - Spearhead

Medal Of Honor: Allied Assault - Spearhead

Apart from the final mission, the level design only barely lives up to the original MOH:AA, but gameplay needed much more playtesting and it was far too short to cough up money for.

Enclave

Enclave

Enclave isn't perfect; the checkpoint feature and lack of quicksave is frustrating and the characters are not well balanced. But with gorgeous level design, its not a game you want to miss. Sadly, I think many players have skipped it.

Medal Of Honor: Allied Assault

Medal Of Honor: Allied Assault

The design was good enough and even for a short game, MOD:AA was a load of fun. Probably not quite as fun as Soldier Of Fortune 2, but I'll be sure to play the two mission packs and look forward to the two PC sequels released since MOH:AA.

Star Wars: Republic Commando

Star Wars: Republic Commando

If a mod was created that removed most of the replicators and gave us much improved weapons and perhaps tweaked some of the monsters, then STRC would become a great game. As it is, it's just a good game; thumbs up but little re-playability. But since I was expecting much worse, I'm fairly satisfied.

Rune

Rune

Rune wasn't one of the upcoming games I was eagerly looking forward to. Being a third person, part RPG. But this is one of the best game I've played in a long time.

Rune Demo

Rune Demo

All through playing Rune, I could not but help to compare it to Heretic II. For me, there has not been an action game worth buying since Heretic II. From this demo Rune looks like an excellent game, one with its own distinct style of play, and I for one and buying the full game next week.

Star Trek Voyager Elite Force Demo

Star Trek Voyager Elite Force Demo

Most of the Star Trek games so far have been fairly disappointing, so I was not looking forward to this new Star Trek game as much as some of the upcoming shooters like KISS or FAKK2. But after playing this demo, I can't wait for the game to arrive!

Soldier of Fortune

Soldier of Fortune

Soldier of Fortune is one of the best first person shooters to date. It has fantastic design and very fun gameplay, a place where many FPS' fall. And in the Half-Life vs SOF war, I think SOF has won.

Soldier of Fortune Demo

Soldier of Fortune Demo

I really enjoyed the Soldier of Fortune demo and can't wait for the full game now. Maybe the design isn't as spectacular as in games like Unreal and Wheel of Time, but it looked good enough and the gameplay was great so it may just be a winner!

The Wheel of Time Demo

The Wheel of Time Demo

Overall, I'm still not sure about WoT. The levels look brilliant, layout is good, weapons seem fine, but is it too hard? I didn't notice any skill settings either. Hopefully we will see Wheel of Time become a classic, and yes, I'll be reviewing levels for it too!

Nocturne

Nocturne

Usually in puzzle games I get stuck and need a walkthrough, but if you don't run into any small glitches (such as trying to place a rune somewhere for about five minutes, repeatedly pressing the 'use' key and moving slightly each time, before the idiot character actually does it) then you should have no problems. The puzzles aren't very hard, and the gameplay is usually fun. Along with a superb atmosphere, if your sick of FPS' then give Nocturne a go.

Heretic II

Heretic II

If you want something slightly different from the usual First-person-shooters, this will surely give you a few days entertainment that you won't forget. I'm going to go buy Hexen2 now!
